Reciprocal Exchange Programs
University of Newcastle, Australia (U of A Exchange Program)
The University of Arkansas sends our students, from every college, to different host
universities around the world in exchange for international students from these host
universities coming to our campus, typically for a semester or academic year. When
you experience a different culture through exchange you gain a deeper understanding
of yourself and those around you—deepening your knowledge of foreign cultures and
strengthening international relationships.
Exchange Program Options
Some of the Benefits
Live better than a tourist:
Getting to know the locals, experiencing the culture, and living as they do;
these are things tourists miss, and this is where you really discover the way of life
in another country with all its subtleties. Plus, you can travel in the semester breaks,
so you have the chance to have some fun before you start working full time.
Expand your language skills:
While most exchange students tend to choose countries where English is widely
spoken and classes are taught in English, we also have exchanges that allow opportunities
for language immersion.
Add to the knowledge that you are learning in your U of A courses by learning
in a different cultural context and academic environment. With options in business,
engineering, arts and sciences, agriculture and even education, you're able to find
the best place for you.
Looks great on your resume:
Develop leadership skills, self-confidence, and a greater understanding of
the complexities of the world around you on exchange.
Get to know yourself:
When you experience a different culture you gain a deeper understanding of
yourself and those around you—deepening your knowledge about the world in a way that
books, school assignments, and a professional career can never reveal.
View the world:
With partners in England, Australia, Europe and Asia, you're able to find a
region of the world that most inspires your curiosity and with weekends and holidays
free to explore, there's no telling how far you can go.
It won’t empty your bank account:
Exchange programs are really just that — an opportunity to exchange your place
on campus with someone from another country. You will continue to pay tuition and
fees for 15 hours/semester to the U of A and your overseas studies will contribute
towards your degree. There are a range of
scholarships and grants that can help you.
