Travel to Russia is much like travel anywhere else in the world.  We believe you will find the Summer Law Institute one of the most rewarding experiences of your lifetime.  This trip will be especially so, because you will have opportunities to know your fellow students and faculty at two Russian law schools: the St. Petersburg State University and Novgorod State University.

St. Petersburg is one of the world’s most beautiful cities.  Like Washington, it was designed and built as Russia’s capital and served as such from its founding under Peter the Great in 1703 until Lenin moved the capital to Moscow in 1918.  The city and its surroundings contain a number of magnificent palaces and museums, including the world famous Hermitage.  Like St. Petersburg, the thousand year old city of Novgorod is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Starting in 1995, the St. Petersburg Summer Law Institute is now in its seventeenth year. The Institute has gone to great lengths to insure that your stay in Russia will be comfortable, safe and secure.  Before you leave, however, it is helpful to know how to prepare and what to expect.  We will provide you materials with our tips, and it would be a good idea to do some research on your own as well.

Don't forget, you can also check out the tips from summer 2010 student, William Black as well.
