Highlights & Photos
This program will provide students with insight into the economic, business, political and cultural environment and trends in Brazil. Rio de Janeiro is one of the most beautiful and dynamic cities in the world. It combines unrivaled natural beauty with a rich and diverse culture. This culture is expressed in Rio's music, art, cuisine and fun loving (somewhat disorganized) approach to life and business. This attitude creates special challenges for those seeking to do business.
During the four-week program, students will be introduced to key issues in the Brazilian/American economic and business relationship. Instruction will include both classroom time and extramural activities. Guest lecturers will be from the business, academic and political community. The course will be taught in English and guided by UA faculty. There will also be field trips to businesses, cultural and historical sites and government institutions.
The program includes ten hours of preparatory instruction at UA, giving students a background in Brazil's current business, political and cultural environment, as well as some basic communication in Portuguese. It is important that program participants recognize that Rio (like many larger cities) has potential dangers as well.
Leadership for the program comes from the Sam M. Walton College of Business.
