UA Study Abroad Scholarships

  • Cleveland C. Burton UG Fellowship in International Studies
    Deadline:  early November
    Application: Application will be available in October 1st and deadline will be early November (deadline will be determined around October)

    Requirements:
    • Sophomore Standing or above
    • 3.5 or above G.P.A.
    • Completed Application Form
    • 500-word (2-page) Application Essay
    • Two letters of recommendation, in sealed and signed envelopes, delivered with application
    • Within sixty days of return to the United States, selected Burton Fellows must complete a 500-word (2-page) report of his or her activities while abroad
    • Burton Fellows will be expected to assist in the recruitment of future Burton Fellows following their study abroad experience
    • Holders of other major fellowships (Sturgis, Bodenhamer, Honors College, etc) are ineligible to apply

  • Johnetta Cross Brazzell Study Abroad Scholarship
    To enhance the diversity of the study abroad experience, the Johnetta Cross Brazzell Endowed Study Abroad Scholarship will be awarded to students from underrepresented communities, i.e., students who are among the first generation in their family to go to college, from low-income backgrounds, and/or members of ethnic/minority groups. 
    Average Award:  $1,000 - $1,200
    For:  summer, semester or year  (award amount does not change with duration of study)
    Deadline:  February 15

  • Honors College Study Abroad Grant
    Maximum of $4000 (Summer), $8000 (Semester) or $12000 (Year) for four year or departmental honors students, must have completed at least 6 hours of honors credit.
    DEADLINE: February 1 open for Summer, Fall, or Year. October 1 open for Spring and Summer

  • Sturgis Honors Study Abroad Award
    $2500-$10,000 for Fulbright College ARSC students in departmental or 4 year honors program. Fellowship recipients (Bodenhamer Fellows, Honors College Fellows, Sturgis Fellows) are not eligible. 
    DEADLINE: February 1 for all programs
    Application available online or from Fulbright Honors, Old Main 517.

  • J.W. & Elizabeth Fulbright Scholarship
    $10,000+ for one year of study in Classics or Humanities. For Fulbright College student with at least sophomore standing.
    DEADLINE: February 1 for all programs

  • Middle East Studies Study Abroad Scholarship
    A limited number of grants will be available on a competitive basis to students majoring in Middle East Studies who want to study abroad.  (Graduate students seeking funding for overseas research should contact the King Fahd Center directly.) 
    DEADLINE: February 1 (for Summer and Academic Year programs) 
    Complete MEST scholarship application available at Office of Study Abroad.

  • Office of Study Abroad Scholarship
    $200-$800 depending on duration of program; should have a minimum of 3.0 GPA and program must be approved by Office of Study Abroad.
    DEADLINE: February 15 for Summer, Fall, or Year programs; October 15 for Spring

  • Dale Bumpers College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Scholarships
    $200-$1000; must be AFLS degree seeking student

  • College of Engineering Scholarship
    $1000-$1200 for Engineering majors

  • John L. Imhoff Global Studies Endowment
    must be Industrial ENGR degree seeking student

  • Foreign Languages Scholarship
    $200-$600 Preference given to foreign language majors and minors and programs with languages taught at UA

  • Sam Walton College of Business Funding
    Grants and loans available. Amounts vary depending on duration of program and level of need. For WCOB majors and minors.
    DEADLINE: February 15 for Summer, Fall, and Year programs.
