The Japan Exchange and Teaching Program offers new graduates and young professionals from around the world the opportunity to participate in international youth exchange; to assist with foreign language education in Japanese schools; and to promote better cross-cultural understanding.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Participants should have an excellent command of the English language and have obtained a Bachelor's degree prior to departure in July 2010.
- Applicants applying from within the U.S. should be, in principle, under the age of 40 and submit proof of American citizenship with the application.
- Assistant Language Teacher applicants are required to have a keen interest in Japan and education and must be willing to study Japanese.
- Other program requirements are outlined in the application materials.
Terms and Conditions:
- Participants receive ¥3,600,000/year (about $39,700 at current exchange rates) and may be exempt from paying U.S. taxes.
- JET Program contracts are for one year (summer to summer) and suitable participants will be allowed to renew their contracts up to four times.
- Orientation, language training, a work visa, housing assistance, and insurance are provided, and travel expenses to Japan are covered.

We will also be displaying a selection of the SASA Photo Contest entries and will announce the winner!
