 2009 – 2010 Fulbright Scholarship Program

Grants for Graduate Study, Research or Teaching Assistantships Abroad

If you are a graduating senior or graduate student at the University of Arkansas AND if you are a U.S. citizen, you are invited to apply for a Fulbright Scholarship for the 2009-2010 competition.

The Fulbright Program for U.S. Students is administered through the Institute of International Education in New York.  Applicants enrolled in degree programs at U.S. universities are expected to apply through the Fulbright Program Advisor on their home campus.

Once a student initiates the on-line application process, an email message will automatically be forwarded to the FPA, providing her with the applicant’s name and email address.  She will be able to monitor the application process and will be responsible for the final submission of the on-line application and supporting documents to IIE by the official October 20 deadline.

CAMPUS SELECTION PROCESS (Please review carefully)

Summer 2008:             DeDe Long is available to work with prospective applicants by email or by appointment (please call Jennifer at 575-7582 to schedule a time.)

September 19:  Applicants must submit to the FPA a HARD COPY of their completed application and supporting documents (official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended, language evaluation, faculty recommendations)

September 29 – October 3: Applicants will INTERVIEW with a UA Faculty Selection Committee. These interviews are generally 20-30 minutes in length.                                    

October 1 – October 15:  Proposal Revisions           

October 15:  Applicants must “SUBMIT” final on-line application to IIE with copy to FPA.

October 18: FPA submits all applications on-line and mails (FedEx) all supporting documents to arrive at IIE on October 20.

AWARD NOTIFICATION

February 1, 2009:   Applicants and FPA are notified indicating if their application has been recommended or not recommended for further consideration by host country.

Feb. - April:    Recommended applications are reviewed by Fulbright Commissions in host country and applicants are notified directly with final decisions during the spring semester. (selection timetable varies by country)
