What kinds of programs are there?
UA Faculty Led Programs These programs are led by UA faculty group leaders. Programs are available for undergraduate and graduate students for both summer sessions. Each program is designed to provide students with a culturally relevant application to the host country while also enriching their experience with tours of historical and cultural sites.
Reciprocal Exchange/Direct Enrollment Programs These programs allow undergraduate students to study and live at an overseas university while receiving credit at UA for a semester or a year. These programs are available for UA students who wish to become familiar with the culture and academic atmosphere of another country, while paying UA tuition (for exchanges) or a comparable tuition (for direct enrollment programs). Some of the exchange programs require a certain level of language proficiency, while others instruct in English.
UA Semester Program in Rome for Architecture and the Humanities This program allows undergraduate students to enroll and receive UA credit while spending the semester abroad at the Rome Center in Rome, Italy. This program is available for both UA and non-UA students who are interested in Humanities and/or Architecture. Students receive instruction in beginning Italian, but all courses are taught in English by UA faculty members.
Preferred Provider Programs There are many program providers that the Office of Study Abroad works extensively with and offer opportunities to study abroad. Students may apply directly to a foreign university or apply through a sponsoring university, institute, or organization within the U.S. and our office is happy to help with transferring credit back from a successful trip. Find the Non-UA Summer Options offered by providers as well.
