Incoming exchange students may select from the following housing options: We ask that you review the below information very carefully and use this information to complete the Housing Preference Form.
ON-CAMPUS RESIDENCE HALLS
The University of Arkansas has several residence halls. Placement for returning students happens early in the spring, leaving very few rooms available for our new incoming international students coming in August. Students who wish to live in a residence hall are encouraged to get their application and Housing preference Form in as early as possible.
If a room is available, students will be asked to sign a housing Contract and send a deposit of US $230.
Rooms are double occupancy and students share common bathroom facilities on each floor. Students living in the residence hall are required to purchase a meal plan, ranging from 10 meals per week to an unlimited meal plan, and students may eat in any of the four dining halls on campus.
While we will make every effort to match our exchange students with an American roommate, this cannot always be arranged. When this is not possible, exchange students will be placed together but they will always be integrated into residence halls with US students.

OFF-CAMPUS APARTMENTS
While there are many apartments available for students to rent off-campus, the cost and terms of the lease agreements vary substantially. Generally, lease agreements require that students to pay for at least 6 months rent. Those who plan to study here for one semester only may rent these apartments but they must be willing to forfeit one month's rent. However, this still provides for one of the most economical and preferred housing options among our exchange students.
The Office of Study Abroad and International Exchange has used the Garden Park Apartments in the past. The apartments are currently being renovated and may not provide furnished apartments for Fall 08. Please know that we are looking into other options for students and should have more concrete details in April or May.
The furnished apartments include small private bedrooms in living suites which accommodate either two or four students, a kitchen and a common living area. When possible, exchange students from the different partner programs and institutions are placed with together and with Americans.
The large apartment complex has a swimming pool, picnic area with volley ball, and exercise room. The apartments are less than a 15 minute walk from campus and close to a free bus route, grocery store, bank, and restaurants.
